Future Council U24
The Future Council U24 gives young adults in Switzerland a political voice. It is the first citizens' assembly for young people in Switzerland and consists of 80 Swiss residents aged 16-24 who have been drawn by lot.

The Future Council represents a cross-section of the young population in Switzerland in terms of various demographic criteria. In a nationwide representative survey, the topic of mental health was chosen for the Future Council. Over three weekends between September and November 2023, the Future Council U24 developed recommendations for action on this topic for politicians, the administration and society. The Future Council’s recommendations for action were presented at a media conference on November 23, 2023.

The young adults themselves decided on which topic they wanted to develop possible solutions. A multi-stage process was carried out for this purpose.
The 80 members of the Future Council were randomly selected between June and August 2023 using a multi-stage random selection process. The composition is roughly representative of the young population in Switzerland in terms of the demographic quotas of age, gender, language, major region, citizenship, level of education, political views, status/country distribution and disability.

Various committees guarantee and monitor the independence of the Future Council’s process. On the one hand, this involves the process of selecting questions and topics and the content of the process, and on the other hand the governance and monitoring of the process rules.
